It’s cold and raining here in Spain, and not only on the plain… so I took time-out from sanding down the doors and windows of my hilltop house and read that equally frosty Finland, like Ukraine, is considering joining NATO.
Though both Finland and Ukraine would share the longest NATO borders with Russia, until 1999 Norway’s much shorter Arctic Circle border was the only Russian border with a NATO country.
I’ll admit to being unaware Norway has a border with Russia, much less that it was a crossing for many Syrian refugees into Europe. A very cold one I imagine, and though far longer than crossing the Mediterranean, it was much cheaper.
